Our client, a prominent commercial real estate investment and development firm, is seeking a highly experienced real estate Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”).
The CIO will be responsible for the investment portfolio and for developing, implementing and executing the investment strategy of the real estate investment firm. This position will participate as a key member of the senior management team, in the structuring, development, and ongoing strategic management of the investment fund and existing portfolio.
Position Responsibilities:
Investment Management Research and Oversight:
- Evaluation and selection of the investment strategies and sub-advisors, including development of an annual investment plan.
- Oversight and due-diligence on funds, including responsibility for additions, replacements, and fund substitutions.
- Guide and manage the funding and investment strategies and activities of the firm consistent with committee-approved policies and guidelines.
- Develop analytical models to measure portfolio performance and risk tolerance.
- Remain up-to-date with investing practices and regulations.
Reporting:
- Internal reporting on the performance of fund managers and sub-advisors.
- Reporting and analysis to meet statutory and compliance requirements.
Product Development and Marketing:
- Lead marketing and sales programs to raise money for funds.
- Development and presentation of marketing materials.
- Development of historical performance of funds and models versus benchmarks.
- Development and reporting on fund profiles.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree with 15 years of portfolio management experience with strong knowledge of commercial real estate.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Proficiency with real estate financial/cash flow modeling and/or asset valuation programs.
Desired:
- Proficiency with Argus.
- Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, real estate or other business-related curriculum.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- Advanced professional designation (such as CFA).
- Experience building/growing a business.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong people management, leadership and decision-making skills.
- Strong financial and investment analysis skills with high attention to detail.
