Job Summary
Our client, a global leader in information protection and storage services, is searching for a Vice President, Global Facility Design & Engineering to work on our Global Real Estate Team and report directly to our EVP of Corporate Development. This Firm has a portfolio of over 1,000 facilities consisting of approx. 64 million square feet of real estate in 37 countries. This position will be responsible for developing international design, construction and maintenance standards for facilities and the major building systems including roof, HVAC, fire suppression, racking and lighting systems. It will collaborate with the business units to develop and oversee third party resources to assist with international real estate activities as well. The position will be accountable for monitoring, measuring and reporting on construction objectives including safety, quality, schedule compliance and operational goals. Operational goals and objectives include project budgets, schedules, capacity levels and capital & operating expenses. The position will also participate and support business development and assume and active leadership role in establishing and developing innovative facility ideas and industry and partner relationships in support of the business. This is a high impact role which will drive our global business and maintain our premier global brand.
Essential Job Functions

- Establish and enforce international facility design and maintenance standards for multiple business facility types
- Ensure compliance with local laws, codes and regulations as concerns facilities, facility outfitting
- Provide guidance and assistance to construction project teams internationally
- Monitor and support international construction projects
- Assist in the hiring of new construction employees in targeted, selected regions.

- Participate in business development activities and promote productive client relationships
- Ensure that the use of Best Value Engineering resources are being maximized on all projects
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, ensure contract compliance and manage ongoing relationships particularly global relationships
- Identify and manage strategic partners and suppliers
- Determine financial feasibility and alternatives of projects at inception
- Represent the organization at industry events and fire code lobbying

- Develop and oversee life, health and safety challenges and policies

- Development of energy related standards and programs
- Review and approve master rack plans
- Review and approve facility design plans
- Assist in sales related activities; i.e., counsel marketers on reps we can make to market prospects
- Manage external fire engineers to ensure proper system design and installation
- Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.
Educational Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent
- MBA, PE and or PPM would be desirable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- 10 to 15 years experience in engineering or construction
- 5 + years of international experience
- 5 + years of project management experience
- 5 + years of Senior Management and P&L responsibility
- Broad based commercial and technical competence relating to development, design, construction and commissioning of large scale projects
- Extensive knowledge of global building, zoning, planning and fire codes
- Proficient in managing, directing and influencing people both directly & indirectly
- Demonstrated experience in matrix management of cross functional, country and cultural environments
- Strong negotiating skills and experience
- Excellent ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to apply costing means and methods
- Proficient in the use of CAD and MS Office applications
