Position Summary:

Responsible for planning, coordinating and administering one or more major projects. May have responsibility for directing projects through the efforts of subordinate Project Managers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:           

  • Presents and gains approval of design concepts.
  • Manages projects from conception to completion, including work performed by both internal and external resources.
  • Establishes budget, prepares project schedules and monitors adherence to terms.
  • Coordinates engineering work to ensure compliance with the design concept.
  • Coordinates project teams' work to ensure timely and complete submission of documents.
  • Manages collections for assigned projects.
  • Manages client relationships.
  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.
  • Attracts, develops and manages staff.
  • Participates in marketing strategy sessions and presentations.
  • Conducts project tours.
  • Participates in industry organization to increase firm's profile and to develop marketing opportunities.
  • Stays abreast of current developments, trends and practices within the interior design and construction industries. Disseminates information, as appropriate, to staff and management.
  • May accomplish responsibilities by directing the efforts of subordinate Project Managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • 10+ years experience producing commercial interior design projects, including 5+ years managingprojects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the commercial interior architecture and/or design industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials, furnishings and construction methods related to interior design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and negotiate contracts for services, consultants and contractors.
  • Proven ability to solve contract and administration issues within the established design context.
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.
  • Intermediate MS Office application skills.
  • Advanced skills using a project management software application, MS Project preferred.
  • Basic AutoCAD/ADT skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills.
  • Advanced presentation and graphic communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage all project phases.
  • Advanced supervisory, leadership and team building skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines without compromising design intent or internal relationships.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation and the proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage diverse responsibilities within allotted time and/or budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise.
  • Working knowledge of marketing concepts, principles and strategies.
