Position Background:

Our client is seeking an experienced real estate professional with at least 2 years of relevant experience to join its Boston team in a dynamic and fast-paced role.  Specifically, we are targeting a Senior Analyst candidate to work in the Debt and Structured Finance platforms.  The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in commercial real estate finance and underwriting
  • High proficiency levels in financial modeling, market analysis, and problem solving.   
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills. 

In this role, you will get the opportunity to:

  • Participate in multiple transaction sizes and structures
  • Gain exposure to a variety of product types, including senior and subordinated mortgage structures, joint venture capitalizations, and distressed transactions.

Our client is a leading provider of commercial real estate and capital market services to the commercial real estate industry.  The hiring company operates out of 18 offices and offers clients a fully integrated capital markets platform including debt placement, investment sales, advisory services, structured finance, private equity, loan sales and commercial loan servicing.  Their goal is to hire and retain associates who have the highest ethical standards and the best reputation in the industry. 

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and underwriting commercial real estate transactions.
  • Preparing financial models and property/project valuations with sensitivity analysis in Argus and Excel.
  • Prepare commercial mortgage loan/sales/recapitalization packages for presentation to lenders and investors.
  • Respond to lender/borrower/investor questions and due diligence.
  • Work with Production Coordinator team on preparing loan requests and packages.
  • Download and synthesize market data, occupancy data, expense analysis, rent/sales, and market comparable data for use in underwriting and RFP packages.
  • Assist lenders in preparing documentation for due diligence and loan closing.
  • Prepare market reports and feasibility analysis.
  • Organize and present data analysis, draw objective conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Interact with clients, prospective lenders and investors.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in an institutional finance environment, preferably in the commercial real estate or banking industry.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; able to interface with top level executives, clients, and investors.
  • Strong technical skills with an advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word and proficiency in leasehold analysis programs such as Argus a must; willingness to learn research software.
  • Self motivated, team-oriented and capable of handling several tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education/experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
