Position Overview:

The Director, Asset Management is responsible for implementing the short and long-term strategy for and actively managing and overseeing operations of the firms Boston portfolio, consisting of four Class A assets totaling 3M sq ft. Additionally this role will be critical to promoting and enhancing the firm’s presence and brand in Boston, through engagement with tenants, prospective tenants and the brokerage and commercial real estate communities in Boston. As the leader and subject matter expert of the Boston market, this role is instrumental in providing market insights and recommendations to our investors to maximize value from the current portfolio and considerations for future investment in Boston.  The successful candidate will be a commercial real estate professional adept in sophisticated and complex asset management, leasing, capital projects, and commercial real estate investment.  Candidates will also possess superior communication skills and exceptional leadership and people management abilities, as this role will be leading several cross-functional teams to holistically support the firm’s Boston portfolio.


  • Develop the strategy, objectives and performance requirements to maximize value for each asset; execute asset plans with cross-functional teams representing marketing, finance, property management and development
  • Lead lease negotiations for new and existing tenants, while effectively managing risk, promoting the firm, and building or maintaining strong tenant relationships
  • Successfully manage lease expirations to minimize downtime and maximize value across each asset
  • Develop and prepare business cases and financial analyses for strategic portfolio initiatives including redevelopments, refurbishments, and capital projects. Prepare recommendations to senior management and investor groups based on underwriting assumptions and appropriate return parameters.
  • Provide management, leadership and coaching to analysts and associates in undertaking his / her tasks relating to investment and asset management
  • Develop and maintain a deep level of market intelligence related to the leasing and capital markets in Boston
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of industry professionals including agents, owners, financiers, legal advisors and property consultants
  • Partner with Development, Marketing and Property Management teams to ensure successful transition of Commonwealth Pier from a development to operating asset including launch of new brand, successful lease-up of the retail, defining and executing a comprehensive programming platform in line with asset and community goals, and managing requirements and communication with Massport
  • Oversee preparation of operating budgets for individual assets, manage expenditure, and exercise budget controls in conjunction with finance and 3rd party property managers
  • Ensure institutional caliber record keeping related to leasing and compliance with loan requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of investment memoranda, executive reports and presentations as necessary
  • Provide clear and timely communication to the firms executives and stakeholders


  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • 7-10+ years’ experience in a commercial real estate investment platform with a focus on office and retail leasing and asset management, and exposure to portfolio management, acquisitions, and capital project activities
  • Ability to lead, manage and train a team of early career analysts and associates
  • Ability to manage complex and shifting priorities and creatively and pragmatically solve problems
  • Experience working with a cross-functional team to develop and achieve asset goals
  • Attention to detail coupled with ability to see the bigger picture
  • Creative, proactive approach to anticipating tenant/customer needs, and negotiating with tenants to achieve strong outcomes
  • Excellent networking skills and relationship building skills
  • Facility with legal and technical documents (leases, licenses, management agreements, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to communicate effectively with Pembroke leadership, industry peers, vendors and colleagues
  • Proficiency with ARGUS and/or Excel cash flow modeling required; proficiency with YARDI Voyager and Job Cost software preferred
