They are undergoing its largest expansion since WWII. Through a nearly $1 billion investment, the Yard will add over 2 million square feet of space and 10,000 jobs by 2020 – more than doubling employment to 17,000+ jobs. Their master plan lays out an ambitious vision for growth … well beyond its current expansion. The plan represents a $2.5 billion investment that would bring the total number of jobs at the Yard to 30,000. To achieve this growth, the plan comprises development of 5.1 million square feet of vertical manufacturing space unlike any in the country, further solidifying their role as a national urban model for sustainable middle-class job creation. At the same time, the plan outlines a series of open space and connectivity improvements aimed at integrating the 300-acre site with its surrounding neighborhoods, while improving operations for its manufacturing users.

 

Areas of Responsibility:

 

The Vice President of Leasing is responsible for all leasing functions and leads efforts to attract new office tenants to the Brooklyn Navy Yard and lease spaces that become available.

 

  • Regularly present leasing renewals and new deals to the Board of Directors
  • Regularly meets with the President and COO to review tenant prospects
  • Directs and manages the daily activities and performance of the Leasing Department staff in accordance with organizational policies and standards
  • Assists with the hiring, orientation, training and scheduling of all leasing personnel
  • Develops and implement effective marketing strategies that will attract prospective tenants to lease space
  • Target prospective tenants that meet the client’s mission and contribute to the ecosystem at the properties
  • Attend various networking events as a representative of the client to attract potential tenants and conduct presentations as appropriate
  • Liaise with the broker community
  • Utilize CoStar and LoopNet and similar databases for information gathering and marketing
  • Prepare marketing collateral including, but not limited to, material for their website and marketing materials
  • Manage and coordinate activities with the exclusive brokers
  • Provide transaction related services (lead space tours, field broker and tenant inquiries, financial analysis, review legal documents and negotiate deal terms)
  • Collaborate with the operating and administrative departments such as Legal, Property Management, Operations and Finance
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the properties as well as its competitors-become a “Neighborhood Expert”
  • Lead efforts to attract Minority and Women Owned Businesses to lease space at the properties
  • Keep accurate records of prospective and current tenants
  • Work with Finance to address the arrears of tenants

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in New York Leasing
  • Broker’s License
