Analyst, Commercial Real Estate Loan Origination

Company Overview:

Our client is a growing loan and investment platform that originates and manages a portfolio of high dollar, structured commercial real estate loans. They are headquartered in NYC with loan production offices in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Miami. The group is part of an Arkansas-based regional bank that provides a full range of banking services to individual and corporate customers, with assets of nearly $23 billion.

Position Overview:

The Analyst is responsible for performing front end credit analysis and conducting due diligence for potential loans that are identified by the team and assists with all general tasks related to sales and marketing of the client’s products.

The client seeks bright, hard-working candidates with a genuine enthusiasm for CRE lending. You will be an integral member of the team, and will work closely with the senior-most professionals of the group to execute transactions. Individuals will be given as much responsibility as their experience and growing capabilities permit.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze credit by screening financing offering memoranda and analyzing valuation and financial models
  • Provide recommendations for pipeline review
  • Prepare preliminary screening memos and provide sound analysis and research to back up positions
  • Provide ongoing analysis and monitoring of individual changes in borrower status, market movements and industry performance
  • Coordinate with the Underwriting Team to ensure loans that are closing are on track and assist with any follow up needed with clients
  • Participate in presentations and discussion with clients and mortgage brokers regarding loan structure, sponsorship, legal, property, market, pricing and underwriting issues

Qualifications:

  • Experience with CRE credit related work, including credit analysis of CRE loans and preparing investment memoranda
  • 2+ years’ experience at a commercial bank in direct lending or a private debt platform or similar experience
  • Exceptional financial modeling ability
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activity streams within tight timelines
  • Proven track record managing client relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with an emphasis in accounting, economics, or corporate finance
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Ability to effectively articulate complex concepts both verbally and in writing
