Position Overview:

Our client is looking to hire a Senior Vice President in Boston, MA. Reporting to the President and Executive Vice President of Development, the SVP will lead a team of VPs, Project Directors, and support staff responsible for the oversight of multiple development projects from conception through conversion, with a focus on affordable and mixed-income multi-family residential development. The SVP will oversee all facets of the development processes including project underwriting, financing, design coordination, construction management, project close-out and transition to the property management team. This SVP will have the opportunity to mentor and grow the team.


  • Source new development opportunities and work with the executive team on pursuit strategy, deal execution and potential partners.
  • Work together with senior leadership in the company, the development associates, the management company, state housing agencies, lenders, and consultants to create an effective strategy for the success of the projects and then oversee the implementation of that strategy.
  • From project conception establish and implement project underwriting and projections for financial applications through project completion and ongoing reporting.
  • Oversee the closing process, providing input and leadership pertaining to design, financing, equity and debt negotiations, permitting, and regulatory and agency review.
  • Lead and represent public facing/community meetings, as well as with architects, engineers, other design professionals, general contractors, building officials and municipal leadership.
  • Attend on-site project review meetings, for projects under construction.
  • Act as resource throughout project delivery to ensure seamless delivery in adherence with all requirements and in line with budget and schedule.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring through the management and coaching of the rising talent within the Development team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • 10-12+ years of real estate development experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of affordable and mixed-income multifamily housing experience.
  • 4+ years of supervisory and mentoring experience.
  • Proven understanding of affordable finance and experience working with various types of public and private real estate funding and state housing programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and direct effective teams to manage major development projects.
  • Ability to problem solve and manage several projects simultaneously through self-motivation, high energy, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow-through, focus, and be detail-oriented with a high sense of transparency and urgency.
  • Superb financial (underwriting), written and verbal communication skills
  • Master's Degree in Real Estate, Planning or related field is preferred.
