The firm is looking for a Boston Market Leader within its Lab segment to drive the business strategy and oversee the relationship management of a growing multi-tenant portfolio across more than 20 assets and over 2.5 million square feet within the Greater Boston market.

Position Overview:
This individual will be a key hire in overseeing the firm’s footprint and key relationships in the greater Boston market.

Leasing & Business Development:

  • Prospect and keep current on all tenant prospects and tenant rep brokerage assignments in market.
  • Oversee the portfolio’s lease execution in conjunction with third-party and internal leasing teams to develop strategies for portfolio availabilities and renewal opportunities in the portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with the commercial brokerage community, including formation of professional relationships with senior real estate executives of tenant/prospect corporations to increase tenant retention, win new deals and effect build-to-suit and sale/leaseback opportunities.
  • Support development efforts and pipeline management by diligently pursue build-to-suit and buy-to- suit opportunities in service to prospective tenants and tenant rep brokers in designated market.
  • Track broader market leasing activity and lab sector demand through active discussions with tenants and constant dialogue with leasing brokerage community.
  • Collaborate with development and investment professionals to plan for future projects including redevelopments of existing properties. Collaboration may extend to broader project management teams including project managers, attorneys, engineers, general contractors, and construction managers.
  • Develop financial models and other analytic tools for lease analysis.
  • Assist Property Management, Accounting and Finance teams in their preparation of quarterly forecasts, portfolio budgets and leasing assumptions.

Portfolio Strategy:

  • Understand market trends and utilize information to develop strategy for region, communicate market strategy to rest of team.
  • Collect and monitor overall market new supply with a focus on competitive projects that may be competitive against the portfolio.
  • Drive portfolio composition with a mindset to strengths/weakness/opportunities/threats to achieve platform vision.
  • Actively engage with owners and investors to source new investment opportunities that further portfolio strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with portfolio management colleagues to establish and execute on broader portfolio strategies including new acquisition opportunities, disposition and co-investment strategies to maximize value.
  • Create and deliver periodic presentations on the platform, market, portfolio and individual assets for critical stakeholders including executive management, board of directors, and existing / prospective investors which may include limited partners directly invested in assets within the portfolio.

Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of commercial real estate experience. Leasing or investments experience within a brokerage firm, principal owner, operator/developer preferred; exposure to life science is required.
  • Proven success in completing lease transactions including renewals, terminations, expansions, and
    unexpected vacancies (deal sheet required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, real estate, or related field is preferred.
  • Strong negotiator with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to manage relationships with brokers and leasing companies.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects, markets, and assets simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with web-based leasing platforms and MS Office required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation and business writing skills.
  • Attention to detail, team player and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Financial and investment acumen, specifically, real estate sector experience & knowledge.
