Company Overview:
Our client, a private real estate investment firm, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to join its real estate team with a focus on multifamily asset management. The firm has a successful and long-standing track record, specializing in core-plus real estate investments strategically located in attractive markets across the United States.
The successful candidate will be responsible for actively managing a portfolio of multifamily properties across the United States, maximizing cash flow distributions, and increasing long term economic value. Additionally, candidate must possess experience with equity investments, have an in depth understanding of property operations and the ability to manage assets with an owner’s perspective.

Position Overview:
Our client is looking for an astute, determined professional to fulfill an Asset Management role within our client’s Multifamily Asset Management team. Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide asset management and direction for a portfolio of multifamily properties with frequent contact and direction to property managers and operating partners.
• Oversee the budget process and preparation of the annual strategic plan for each property. Review periodic property reports and track operating performance. Prepare regular updates summarizing results.
• Provide assistance to the acquisition team on new deals and lead the disposition efforts on sale of assets.
• Understand general trends and individual property markets / submarkets and implement strategies accordingly
• Prepare analyses of various investment decisions – leasing; financing; acquisition; hold/sell, disposition recommendations
• Prepare and present semi-annual valuations to the Valuation Committee.
• Develop and implement an asset strategy (multi-year business plan) for each investment including property upgrade/capex plans and hold/finance/sell recommendations
• Review regularly the business plan, leasing plan, capital program and operating budgets for each asset
• Approve leasing plans and capital expenditures throughout the course of the year as well as maximize the cash flow from the investment.
• Actively manage joint venture relationships with partners and co-investors.
• Communicate internally significant asset events and recommend solutions.
• When appropriate, recommend the sale of an asset and coordinate/manage the sale through third party brokerage firms.
• Monitor loan covenants and, if appropriate, refinance existing loans.

Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting, economics; emphasis in real estate preferred
• Candidates must have at least 5 – 10 years of related real estate experience preferably with multifamily asset management and experience working with joint venture partners.
• Understanding of key real estate agreements including leases, purchase and sale agreements, management and leasing agreements, partnership agreements, development agreements and loan agreements.
• Understanding of real estate concepts such as net leases, gross leases, contracts, rents, percentage rents, operating expenses, capital expenditures, recovery of expenses, property types and basic finance concepts such as NOI returns, cash flow returns, internal rate of return, present value/discounted cash flow, capital markets
• Awareness of portfolio goals and ability to develop and monitor specific plans for individual investments that contributes to these goals
• Strong interpersonal/communication skills; ability to develop and ask questions, negotiate acceptable terms with third parties and to make presentations to senior management, investment committee or clients, when necessary
• Strong project management skills, with a ‘hands on’ approach
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills
• A strong sense of drive and ambition with potential to grow into roles of greater responsibility
• Ability to work well with internal and external partners and clients
• Ability to use financial and valuation software including Argus
• Experience working with joint venture partners
• Involvement in promoting ESG, proptech and data initiatives
• Possess existing relationships with multifamily developers, property managers and brokers
• Strong sense of accountability
• Strong work ethic and sense of initiative
• Strong ability to multi-task
