President, Development

Fort Worth, TX

JOB DESCRIPTION

Company Overview:
Our client is a privately held development company stewarding the long-term development of a transformational, 7,500-acre master-planned community in West Fort Worth. Strategically positioned for growth and guided by multi-generational ownership, the firm is launching a dedicated development platform to accelerate vertical execution across multiple asset classes.

Backed by a strong land position and significant investment in infrastructure and entitlements, the firm is entering a pivotal stage, transitioning from horizontal execution to vertical development. With developable land spanning industrial, multifamily, mixed-use, and retail opportunities, the firm seeks to establish a credible, diversified development presence capable of executing complex projects across the Texas market and beyond.

Position Overview:
The President of Development will serve as the firm's senior-most executive responsible for launching and leading the development platform. This role will be responsible for all aspects of the development lifecycle across multiple asset types - from strategy and site planning through capital structuring, vertical execution, leasing, and project delivery.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned developer with a proven track record building and scaling development platforms, with experience across multiple asset classes (multifamily, mixed-use, office, retail, and/or industrial). This is a rare opportunity to build a platform from the ground up with substantial land control, diverse product opportunities, and the backing of patient, multi-generational capital.

Responsibilities:
Strategy & Execution

  • Lead development efforts across the 7,500-acre site, with a focus on identifying and launching development opportunities across multiple asset classes - multifamily, mixed-use, retail, office, and industrial.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans, including phasing, site planning, product mix optimization, and capital structuring.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with potential JV and capital partners across different asset types and deal structures.
  • Guide predevelopment efforts including design, entitlement interface (as needed), budgeting, and scheduling across a diverse development pipeline.

Capital & Partnering

  • Lead discussions with institutional capital partners, equity sources, and strategic operating partners across various asset classes.
  • Structure and negotiate joint ventures and development agreements in collaboration with internal stakeholders and legal advisors.
  • Present opportunities and deal terms to ownership for final approval.
  • Build and maintain relationships with best-in-class development partners and operators.

Market Presence & Team Building

  • Serve as the internal and external face of the firm's development platform.
  • Develop marketing strategies and positioning to differentiate the firm as a credible, sophisticated developer.
  • Operate as a "player-coach"- able to set vision while executing hands-on in the early stages.
  • Collaborate with leadership to build out an internal development team over time.
  • Champion a high-performance culture grounded in ownership, integrity, and entrepreneurial execution.

Qualifications:
Experience

  • 15+ years of relevant real estate development experience with exposure across multiple asset types (multifamily, mixed-use, office, retail, industrial).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale development platforms or lead complex, large-scale developments with minimal oversight.
  • Track record of executing sophisticated, high-profile projects - the kind that define markets and attract capital.
  • Familiarity with Texas markets or similar high-growth Sun Belt markets strongly preferred.
  • Previous roles at vertically integrated development firms, entrepreneurial platforms, or institutional developers preferred.
  • Experience working with patient capital, family offices, or long-term hold strategies a plus.

Leadership & Style

  • Hands-on operator who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment - no large internal machine required.
  • Strategic thinker who can zoom out on market positioning and capital strategy while rolling up sleeves when needed.
  • Comfortable being the "go-to" decision-maker with accountability and the ability to move quickly.
  • Developer-investor mindset: understands how to underwrite, structure, and execute across cycles.
  • Style fits the firm's values: polished but not political, entrepreneurial but disciplined, ambitious but grounded.

Other Attributes

  • Intellectually curious, humble, and decisive.
  • Strong communicator with boardroom presence and street-level credibility.
  • Excited by the opportunity to build something differentiated and leave a lasting legacy.
